The Robin 2 in Bilston is an excellent live music venue with a capacity of 700, and draws appreciative crowds to see some unexpected big names, local bands and tribute acts. At the front of the club, Noddy's Bar - named after the Slade frontman - is an excellent place to meet for a drink before the gig. The Robin provides a refreshing alternative for those who like to listen to good live music at a reasonable price. The Robin 2 is unique in the fact that it is also a hotel. The Robin 2 hotel has been inundated with bookings since it's opening in May 2008. The 500,000 pounds hotel is aimed at giving concert-goers the chance to enjoy a drink and have a bed nearby for convenience. The old building next to the Mount Pleasant music venue was gutted and transformed into the new attraction as part of a 12 week renovation project. DEEP PURPLE FAMILY TREE.
Deep Purple is one of the greatest hard rock bands in history. They have been popular worldwide and have influenced many other hard rock and heavy metal bands.
In their over-40-year history, Deep Purple began their career as "The Roundabouts." and chose the name "Deep Purple" after Ritchie Blackmore said that the song "Deep Purple" by Bing Crosby was his grandmother's favourite song.
This will be the 6th annual Family Tree event at the Robin 2 (having missed 2013) and we are happy to announce that Whitesnake Tribute – Snakes & Sinners will be joining us to complete 2015’s Family Tree.
After only 12 months SNAKES & SINNERS are now being hailed as the UK's No1 Whitesnake performing the complete WHITESNAKE from the early years through to the incredible FOREVERMORE when 6 of the midlands finest musicians decided to create the UK's most faithful tribute to the Mighty Whitesnake, the closest thing to the real thing check out the snakes of sin! SNAKES & SINNERS.
PURE PURPLE represent the era when Ian Gillan, and Roger Glover joined Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord and Ian Paice to form the classic MK 2 line up. Pure Purple perform their songs with the same infectious energy and passion as Deep Purple did in the 1970’s and go to great lengths to sound as authentic as possible too with Marshal Amps, Hammond Organ, Fender Guitars and Leslie Speakers. Albums from the MK 2 era include ‘In Rock’, ‘Fireball’, ‘Machine Head’, ‘Made in Japan’ and later included ‘Perfect Strangers’ and ‘Hell or High Water’
RAINBOW RISING was formed in 1996, the aim was to not only recreate the unique Rainbow sound but to also capture the visual spectacle that was Rainbow live on stage. Rainbow Rising is made-up of a group of musicians who possessed not only immense musical talent, but also an almost fanatical interest in the phenomenon that was Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
Through the years, Deep Purple has been known for its outstanding in-concert performances, no matter which line-up recorded them. Purple's live performances have been legendary, and over the years they have released more live recordings than almost any other band.
