“Molotov Jukebox: world domination with dancing and possibly sex...”
Eddie Temple Morris, XFM
If you haven’t heard of Molotov Jukebox, you’ve really not been getting out enough. They are a relentlessly fiery London-based 6-piece with a large home grown following and a rapidly expand- ing international fanbase, having played to packed crowds at festivals across Europe and the UK and whilst on tour in Brazil.
They are fronted in stunningly flamboyant style by the multi-talented actress, fashion icon and musi- cian Natalia Tena (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones/ Vocals and Accordion). Her provocative, sultry vocals slink across beautiful harmonies and powerful pop hooks, woven by brazen trumpet and decadent violin, all driven along by a brutally tight, pounding rhythm section.
Molotov Jukebox have become internationally reknowned for their unique sound. This wild appropriation of styles ranges from gypsy to swing, through latin soul and calypso to disco and dub- step. Their dedicated fanbase has affectionately dubbed it ‘GypStep’.
2011 saw them touring Brazil, recording for Peroni, tearing up festivals across Europe and releasing their critically acclaimed first EP ‘Double Dare’. 2012 has seen the release of their second EP, ‘Bang!’. Produced by Jonathan Quarmby (David Bowie,Finley Quaye), in partnership with AWAL. The single ‘Tick Tock’ has been played on BBC Radio 2, Radio 3, 6 Music and Absolute radio. the accompanying video has had more than 60,000 views on Youtube.
