A chance hiring to act as background artists performing at a California roadhouse where an unknown JAKE BUGG was appearing at an Open Mic night led to a new adventure for the American Roots duo known as HONEYHONEY. The set-up was the video shoot for Jake’s single release‘Broken’and Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe were briefly glimpsed playing a tune.
However, artists and management all got along well at the video shoot and the chance meeting led to an offer for Nashville-based HONEYHONEY to open for Jake’s current US tour and his forthcoming UK & Ireland and European tours. From never having played outside their American homeland, the band are about to embark on 39 dates covering major cities throughout UK and major capitals cities across mainland Europe.
With fiddles threading the melodies, big acoustic guitar sounds and banjos plinking as percussively as melodically, there is an old world feel to HONEYHONEYthat is as fresh and right now as it is tube radios and old lace.
And it is the disparity of how Suzanne Santo (vocals/banjo/violin) and Ben Jaffe (vocals/guitar) came up and came together that informs HONEYHONEY with their singularity of sound. Meandering through unique paths, converging in Los Angeles where everyone is chasing something, and finally recognizing the chemistry they shared is no mean feat.
“In a brave new world where vintage Americana has helped the likes of Mumford & Sons and the Avett Brothers achieve headliner status, Los Angeles duo HONEYHONEY ought to be rising stars.” - Buzz Bands LA
