The Robin 2 in Bilston is an excellent live music venue with a capacity of 700, and draws appreciative crowds to see some unexpected big names, local bands and tribute acts. At the front of the club, Noddy's Bar - named after the Slade frontman - is an excellent place to meet for a drink before the gig. The Robin provides a refreshing alternative for those who like to listen to good live music at a reasonable price. The Robin 2 is unique in the fact that it is also a hotel. During this time they have had the honour of Led Zeppelin’s front-man Robert Plant attending three of their gigs and John Bonham’s son Jason even jammed with them on stage. These things the band are very proud of. It must surely also be the best recommendation any band could receive, and also assure any Led Zeppelin fans apprehensive about seeing The Fredz.
According to one of Kerrangs readers polls. FRED ZEPPELIN are among the top ten best live bands to see. Quite an achievement as they were the only tribute band listed in any category.
Its worth taking a camera with you, as you don’t know who could be standing next to you. In the audience have been MAGNUM’s front-man Bob Catley, Roy Wood legendary main man of THE MOVE & WIZZARD, and SLADES Jimmy Lea was the latest rock celebrity to experience a two-hour Fred Zeppelin gig.
Fred Zeppelin were invited by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page to attend a charity event of which Jimmy is a patron. Kev (bass) and Blackie (drums) attended and were thrilled to meet and chat with the legendary guitarist. Also at the party were Roger Daltrey, Julian Lloyd Webber, Leo Sayer and Formula One’s David Coultard. What a night!!
The four members of Fred Zeppelin are real fans, and formed ‘The Freds’ out of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelin’s music. As their name suggests the band do not take themselves too seriously, they know the praise belongs to Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones, and Bonzo
Dizzy Lizzy are the most fantastic live tribute act, dedicated to one of Rock's all time legends 'Phil Lynott' a long established tribute to Thin Lizzy, since early 1994 their sound and set list faithfully recreate that trademark Lizzy sound.
Philomena Lynott commented that Dizzy Lizzy are ' the closest tribute to playing her son's music - a sentiment that has ripples through the years.
Dizzy Lizzy have an amazing sound and resemblance to the classic 70s & 80s rock band.
They will take you back in time to relive that magical era with a superb blend of foot stomping rock anthems and classic rock ballads (inc. The Boys Are Back In Town, Jailbreak, Dancin’ In The Moonlight. Whiskey In The Jar, Emerald, Black Rose, Rosalie, Sarah & Still In Love With You).
One of the countrys most dynamic live tribute acts, they have appeared at many prestigious venues, headlined the Vibe For Philo in Dublin and performed and toured with the original Thin Lizzy guitarist Eric Bell.
Eric Bell's reaction on first seeing the band….' I could only watch 3 numbers owing to the emotions, the re-semblance to Phil and the mannerisms and playing, it was spooky - it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck..' Dizzy Lizzy can also be heard on the documentary CD ' I Am Just A Cowboy'.
Although based in the Midlands, Dizzy Lizzy tour extensively throughout the UK, play in Ireland and Europe and have performed as far a field as Dubai and Los Angeles.
